INVISION acquires a stake in the German family-owned Reisenthel Accessoires GmbH & Co. KG and supports the further development and internationalisation of the brand, investment in new products and thus, sustainable growth. The members of the founding family remain shareholders and continue to play crucial operational roles.
reisenthel is the leading manufacturer of shopping baskets, bags and trolleys for the segments shopping, travel, cosmetics and children. The products are characterised by a high degree of innovation, award-winning functional design and highest quality. The longevity of reisenthel products are particularly appreciated by environmentally conscious consumers and have been helping to avoid disposable bags for decades.
Peter Reisenthel founded the company in 1971 and offered a wide range of products before long. From the 1990s onwards, the company focused on shopping bags, as made evident by the launch of the famous carrybag®, made of aluminium and textile, in 2003. The evolution of the wicker basket is an absolute bestseller around the globe. The iconic object is a genuine original – including copyright protection.
In 2007, the company moved into the modern new building in Gilching and opened brand stores in Berlin and Munich in 2014 and 2018, respectively. The Mittelstandsunion selected Peter Reisenthel as Entrepreneur of the Year 2016 in recognition of his outstanding entrepreneurial achievements, which he accomplished together with his wife Rita Reisenthel and his son Patrick Reisenthel, both working in the company. In the same year, reisenthel launched a children’s collection. Today, approximately 80 motivated employees, many of whom have been with the company for over ten years, work at reisenthel.
Together with Invision, a Swiss-German investment company, reisenthel intends to continue its success story. While Peter Reisenthel will support the company as an advisory board member, the other family members, the management as well as the entire staff will continue to work in an unaltered manner.
