ROOF
Development of a founder-owned national football player agency into a leading European sports agency.
PROFILE OF ROOF
ROOF GmbH is one of the leading professional sports player agencies headquartered in Grünwald (Germany). The group advises and supports German and international professional football players and coaches in career planning and complex contract negotiations, as well as various clubs in the management of transfers and squad improvements. The ROOF Group was formed from the merger of the three leading German football consultancy agencies.
HOW INVISION PLAYS ITS PART
As part of a partnership with the four managing founders, Invision initially acquired a minority stake in the then Arena11 Group. The investment decision by INVISION was made to finance growth. Together with the management, the aim was to expand the company’s area of activity both geographically and in terms of product range through strategic acquisitions, thus creating a leading European sports player agency. The investment was initially made solely with INVISION’s own capital and without borrowed capital to ensure operational flexibility.
THE ROOF SUCCESS STORY WITH INVISION
Following INVISION’s investment, the company’s growth plans were realised through three successful acquisitions, two of which were in Germany and one in the United Kingdom, as well as through organic expansion into Spain, whereby the Group’s growth and expanded offering were communicated to the outside world by renaming it ROOF as a joint sports brand. Other key elements of the success story were the institutionalisation of the ROOF Group, which was implemented together with the founders through the targeted strengthening of Group functions to reflect the significantly more valuable player portfolio and much stronger team of consultants in terms of structure.
