Parkresort Rheinfelden
Development from a traditional spa to a dynamic health resort covering wellness, rehabilitation medicine, senior living and hospitality.
PARKRESORT RHEINFELDEN IN PROFILE
As of early 2024, the Parkresort Rheinfelden Group consists of two divisions with a total of six companies:
- The Health Division encompasses inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation medicine, as well as services in the areas of hospitality, gastronomy, and assisted living.
- The Wellness Division comprises the infrastructure and services in the area of spas and wellness as well as the Group functions. The division also includes a 50% stake in the joint venture Carasana Bäderbetriebe GmbH (the operator of 2 thermal spas in Baden-Baden).
HOW INVISION PLAYS ITS PART
Thomas Kirchhofer has developed the former Rheinfelden spa centre into a successful group of companies. In order to secure his life’s work at an early stage, he decided in favour of a long-term succession solution with INVISION. The Group’s strong market position, the quality of the management team and the Group’s development opportunities were decisive factors in Invision’s investment decision. Thomas Kirchhofer continued to act as Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer after Invision’s investment and retained a substantial stake in the company.
THE PARKRESORT SUCCESS STORY WITH INVISION
In close cooperation with Thomas Kirchhofer and the management team, the company has developed from a company listed on the secondary stock exchange with four companies into a strong group with two divisions. In addition to significant infrastructure investments, key aspects of this development included the expansion of therapy offerings and new attractions in the spa, such as an extension of the sauna area as well as a salt brine area. Structures were created at Group level following the going private, enabling a seamless handover from Thomas Kirchhofer to his successors.
Invision demonstrated a deep understanding of our business model and company culture. Together, we successfully unlocked the full potential of Parkresort, benefiting not only the company but also its employees and the region.
