CyberGuard Announces New All-in-One Security Appliance
to Protect Wired and Wireless Networks of Small and Medium-Sized
Enterprises
LAS VEGAS, May 2 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- CyberGuard Corporation
(Nasdaq: CGFW), a global provider of security solutions that protect
the critical assets of the largest and most complex information
networks for Global 2000 enterprises and government organizations,
today announced a new all-in-one wireless workgroup security and
data access appliance, the CyberGuard SG565, designed to secure
the wireless and wired local area networks of small and medium-sized
enterprises.
"Small and medium-sized businesses under tight budgets face
a unique challenge to protect the business-critical data accessed
by a geographically- dispersed employee base often spread across
multiple branch offices or retail locations, such as gas stations,
stores or medical clinics," said Pat Clawson, Chairman and
Chief Executive Officer, CyberGuard Corporation. "With CyberGuard's
new SG565, these businesses have a cost-effective and comprehensive
security appliance that enables any remote office network to safely
become part of a trusted central network -- in effect, creating
a secure instant office network."
Unifying defenses to combat blended threats via a single device
combining firewall, intrusion prevention and gateway anti-virus
is quickly becoming a requirement for small and medium-sized businesses.
CyberGuard's SG565 not only enables these capabilities over wired
fast Ethernet and Wi-Fi WLAN networks, but also allows small offices
to implement secure file and print services by attaching off-the-shelf
USB disk drives and printers. The result is that small and medium-sized
businesses, as well as larger enterprises with regional, branch
and satellite offices, can quickly deploy remote or temporary
office networks using a sub $1,000 business-class desktop appliance
that delivers comprehensive network security functionality.
The CyberGuard SG565 also delivers these additional key features
to small and medium-sized businesses:
* Five fast Ethernet ports which can be configured as separate
security
zones as well as a Wi-Fi 802.11g access point for mobile notebook
PCs
* Industry-standard secure VPN access with hardware-accelerated
encryption
* Link load-balancing for ISP fail-over and Internet bandwidth
acceleration
* High availability through dual box peering
* Network attached storage (NAS) via USB drives and networking
printing
via USB printers
