Dr. Ulrich Schumacher joins Esmertec as a Member of the Board of Directors

Dr. Schumacher, 46, has over 18 years of experience in the IT industry and is well reputed as a dynamic and visionary business leader. In April 1999, he took over the helm of Infineon Technologies, when it was spun-off from Siemens. He brought the company to the capital markets in 2000, established it as an industry leader and led it into profitability.

Prior to Infineon, Dr. Schumacher held different positions at Siemens, where since 1996 he served as the President and CEO of the Siemens' Semiconductors Group. In 1998 he became a member of the Siemens Management Board. Dr. Schumacher holds a doctorate degree in engineering from the RWTH Institute of technology in Aachen, Germany, and serves on the board of Deutsche Bahn AG (the German federal railways).

“It is our pleasure to welcome a high caliber individual such as Dr. Schumacher to Esmertec’s Board of Directors,” said Alain Blancquart, Chairman and CEO of Esmertec. “We look forward to drawing on his business and technology experience in assisting us to chart Esmertec’s future course.”

“Technology products are being developed so quickly that it is an art to innovate and ensure the products’ relevance to its target markets. In this challenging environment, Esmertec has done very well,” said Dr. Schumacher. “The company is well positioned, the management and board know what they are doing, and Esmertec is set to continue on this path. I look forward to being a part of this process.”
