Webwasher Presents New CSM Suite 4.3 With Spam Filter:

Hannover, Germany, March 12, 2003 – At CeBIT 2003, webwasher presents the WebWasher® CSM Suite 4.3, the latest version of their comprehensive and integrated solution for Content Security Management (CSM). The outstanding feature of the WebWasher® CSM Suite 4.3 is primarily a new kind of spam filtering. Thanks to a new, flexible combination of methods provided by the optional SpamEquator™ module, WebWasher achieves unsurpassed spam recognition capability. This future-oriented high-performance technology protects corporate networks from unwanted e-mails and relieves employees from the manual deletion of unwanted mails. In addition to the completion of the WebWasher CSM Suite 4.3 with the spam filter, improvements in all other modules lead to optimized Internet Access Management and Gateway protection. This enables almost complete control and security of data traffic, while avoiding the inadvertent blocking of relevant information.

The new WebWasher spam filter is a core component of the e-mail filter found in the products WebWasher® CSM Suite and WebWasher® PG (Protected Gateway). The spam filter combines existing anti-spam technologies, such as Habeas SWE and RBL lists, which can be extended to include Header, Body, and Bayesian rules within WebWasher’s SpamEquator module. This technology, which webwasher terms MethodMix™, makes it possible to use the different spam methods at various strengths and on this basis establish an ”Overall Sensitivity”, from which point onwards mails count as spam. This provides the best possible guarantee that obvious spam mails are blocked, while questionable mails are handled with caution – all tailored to the individual needs of the customer.

Thanks to the new spam filtering technology, WebWasher CSM Suite and WebWasher PG – the integrated security solution for the protection of the central Internet gateway – protect companies and public institutions effectively and efficiently from almost all dangers and annoyances arising from the Internet. Customers deploying the WebWasher URL database DynaBLocator™ can also use the comprehensive stock of URLs to improve spam mail recognition.

DynaBLocator has additionally been improved so that not only current but also archived Web content from the same URL can be blocked. A feedback service for unrecognised or wrongly categorised URLs is now integrated into the user interface and thus further improves the quality of the URL database. CSM Suite 4.3’s newly integrated Outbound Media Filter seals potential security leaks during the uploading of files via HTTP and FTP. The WebWasher CSM Suite’s extensive reporting capabilities are supplemented with spam reports. Features to centralize Internet management are also new: in networks with multiple WebWasher nodes, it is possible to push the log files and policy settings onto a master node. As a result, Internet usage control, above all in large corporate networks, becomes considerably more efficient.
